measurement times are logged, as well as an Average duration based on all
measurements taken since the test began.
Test Service Disruption functions include:
Resolution: When testing Service Disruption measurements on lower rate
Ethernet bandwidths (≤ 1Gbps), this setting is used to ensure that at least one
Ethernet packet is received within the configured period of time (measurement
window). The following options are available:
High (.1 ms)
Medium (1 ms)
Low (10 ms)
When receiving fewer packets per second (lower bandwidths), a lower
resolution setting (larger window of time) is required.
Important: This setting is only displayed on the MPM-10G card.
Consecutive Good Time Required: This function allows you to enter the time-
duration (in milliseconds) of consecutive error-free frames to elapse before
Protection Switch measurements stop accumulating. The range is 10 to 1638.3
milliseconds and is entered using a keypad.
Consecutive Bad Time Required: This function allows you to enter the time-
duration (in milliseconds) of consecutive errored frames to elapse before
Protection Switch measurements begin to accumulate. The range is 0.1 to
1638.3 milliseconds and is entered using a keypad.
Action (State): Starts and stops Service Disruption mode. If an event occurs, the
protection switch time will appear in both seconds and frames present. The
results will not include the number of good frames, but the number of errored
frames that occur before the first good frame. This is based on the previously
selected criteria for the consecutive time and frame requirements. The unit
begins monitoring the incoming signal for a service disruption measurement
event as soon as one of the following State options is selected:
Single APS: Monitors for a single service disruption event. Seconds and
frames are reported and the State returns to Inactive.
Continuous APS: Constantly monitors for service disruption events, and
updates the seconds and frames reported.
