Configuring the Fax Switch

Configuring the Fax Switch
If the fax switch is enabled, the PBX transfers external calls actively or passively to an internal
fax machine or a fax box.
• active fax switch: The PBX automatically accepts each external call. It uses the dial tones
to try to determine whether the incoming call is from a fax machine. If the corresponding dial
tones are identified within the detection duration of six seconds, the call is transferred to the
internal destination (fax machine or fax box). If the dial tone cannot be identified within this
time frame, normal call distribution is put into effect.
• passive fax switch: External calls are signaled on the internal subscribers that are
selected in call distribution. If a user accepts the call and then hangs up again within three
seconds, the PBX transfers the call to the internal destination (fax machine or fax box).
• active/passive fax switch: Active and passive are switched in succession. This allows the
call to be automatically transferred from the PBX to the internal destination within the
detection duration of six seconds (fax machine or fax box) or transferred by a user who
accepts the call and hangs up again within three seconds.
