Switching ECM (Error Correction Mode) for Fax Transmission On/Off

Switching ECM (Error Correction Mode) for Fax Transmission On/Off
If ECM is enabled, transmission errors during transmission (e. g. caused by bad cables) are
adjusted, as far as the receiver also supports ECM.
When many transmission errors occur (e. g. transoceanic cables or VoIP connections with
many package losses) the sending cannot be transmitted because the fax devices cancel the
transmission due to too many repetitions. In such cases it might be better to disable ECM.
Without ECM transmission errors are displayed as defective points or lines.
Switching this on/off can be done as follows:
• Separately for fax boxes
• Via the configuration manager
Requirements:
– An SD card inserted in the SD card slot or a USB memory stick inserted in the USB port
– Configuration manager, opened with sufficient authorization
1. Open the page FUNCTIONS > Voice mail/fax boxes > Boxes.
2. Click
in the line of the corresponding fax box.
3. Select or clear the ECM (Error Correction Mode) check box under Fax trans-
mission.
Enables ECM (error correction mode).
Disables ECM (error correction mode).
Further steps:
– Save your settings before you leave the page.
