P
Point-to-Multipoint Connection
This is an ISDN connection with 3 to 10 independent telephone numbers (MSN). They can be
assigned to one or more devices, including PBXs.
Point-to-Point Connection
This is an ISDN connection with a direct extension options. A provider allocates a PBX base
number with additional extensions (DDI), e.g., 9200–0. PBXs are usually operated on a point-
to-point connection.
Port
A single PC can simultaneously establish multiple connections and provide multiple services
for other PCs. Ports are used to differentiate these connections from parallel connections. Due
to a common agreement, PCs usually provide their services on ports 1 to 1023. Outgoing
connections are usually established starting at Port 1024. Most services that use the standard
port numbers (for example, web browsers use port 80).
POTS
POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) is the international name for the analog exchange line.
Priority Call
When the do-not-disturb function is enabled, a subscriber is no longer reachable by normal
callers. A priority call creates an exception and allows the incoming internal call to circumvent
the do-not-disturb function.
Private (Personalized) Exchange Line Access
Private (personalized) exchange line access enables separate billing for business and personal
calls for individual employees. Using private exchange line access, calls initiated are given a
special identification while the call data is being recorded. This allows the charges to be billed
to the employee.
