Installing and Switching on the PBX

Preparation

Important Information on the Installation Site

Preparation
Prior to the installation and commissioning of the device, you have to make some preparations.
This includes installing the PBX as a standing unit or mounting it on the wall and possibly to
plug in an existing module (not contained in the scope of delivery). Moreover, the cover panel
has to be removed to perform some installation jobs. The overviews of the basic unit and on
the modules provides information to facilitate finding the various connection options.
Important Information on the Installation Site
The PBX can be operated both as desktop device or as a wall-mounted unit.
A freely accessible 230 V Schuko socket is required in the immediate vicinity of the installation
site for the purpose of power supply. The wall socket or the NT provided by the network provider
should also be in the immediate vicinity of the installation site. If the wall socket/NT is relatively
far away from the PBX, a cable with wall socket must first be laid.
Please observe the safety information given in the following.
Warning: Liquid entering the casing can cause life-threatening electric
shocks or damage/destroy the PBX.
• Only operate the device in closed, dry rooms.
Caution: Overheating can damage or destroy the system.
• Note the ambient temperature values indicated in the technical data.
• Make sure that heat produced by the device can be adequately vented
into the environment. Do not install the system in a cabinet without
adequate air circulation.
Important: Mechanical loads and electro-magnetic fields can impair PBX
operation.
• Avoid mechanical loads (e. g. vibrations).
• Avoid proximity to devices that generate electro-magnetic fields or react
sensitively to them (e. g. radio receivers, amateur radio sets, mobile
phones, DECT systems, or similar).
• Protect the PBX from soiling, dust, and condensation.
