VoIP
Configuring Codecs
Configuration can be carried out as follows:
• Separately for VoIP providers
• Via the configuration manager
Requirements:
– External VoIP channel (COMpact 3000 VoIP or VoIP channels purchased and activated in
the Upgrade Center)
– Configuration manager, opened with sufficient authorization
1. Open the page CONFIGURATION > Voice over IP (VoIP) > VoIP provider.
2. Click in the line of the corresponding VoIP provider.
The Provider configuration opens.
3. Open the page Provider configuration > T.38 and Codec.
The available codecs are displayed under Codecs. The pre-configured priority list is
displayed under Sequence for Codec negotiation .
4. Click one of the following buttons, if necessary:
Best available quality: Select a codec sequence with the best available VoIP
call quality (high bandwidth) as the highest priority.
Good compromise: Select a compromise between VoIP call quality (high
bandwidth) and compression (low bandwidth) for the codec sequence.
Best possible compression: Select a codec sequence with high compression
(low bandwidth) as the highest priority.
5. Add or remove an available code, as needed in the Sequence for Codec negoti-
ation.
Adds the codec highlighted under Available Codecs to the end of the priority
list (Sequence for Codec negotiation).
Removes the highlighted codec from the Sequence for Codec negotiation.
This codec is then displayed under Available Codecs .
6. If necessary, change the Sequence for Codec negotiation.
Moves the highlighted codec one position upwards.
Moves the highlighted codec one position downward.
