Adding a Printer
Adding a Printer under Windows XP
Requirements:
– A USB printer with the device class "printer" connected to the USB host and enabled
– A "printer installation wizard" that has been started
Note: If the "printer installation wizard" does not start automatically, click
Start and then Control Panel. Double-click Printers and Faxes. Click Add
a printer under Printer Tasks.
1. Follow the prompts given by the printer installation wizard; while doing this, configure
the following settings:
• Under Local or Network Printer:
Select the Local printer attached to this computer option.
Deactivate Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer.
• Under Select a Printer Port:
Select the Create a new port option.
In the Type of port list field, select the Standard TCP/IP Port option.
2. Follow the wizard prompts for adding a standard TCP/IP printer port; while doing so,
configure the following settings:
• Under Add Port:
Enter the IP address or URL of the COMpact 3000 in the Printer Name or IP
Address entry field.
Enter any port name in the Port Name entry field.
• Under Additional Port Information Required:
Select the Custom option under Device Type.
Click Settings....
• Under Configure Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor:
Select the Raw option under Protocol.
In the Port Number entry field under Raw Settings, enter the digit sequence
9100.
3. Continue following the prompts given by the printer installation wizard; while doing
this, configure the following settings:
• Under Install Printer Software:
From the Manufacturer list, select the manufacturer, and in the Printer list, select
the product name of the printer. If necessary, click Windows Update to update the
list
