Configuring VoIP Channel Use
VoIP
In Internet telephony (VoIP, Voice over Internet Protocol), an Internet connection (for example,
DSL) is used for telephoning instead of an analogue or ISDN line. In this case, digital voice data
is sent as IP packets from one telephone to another. This functions the same way as the trans-
mission of a webpage over the Internet.
The transmission quality and the reliability of Voice over IP depends to a great extent on the
quality of the Internet connection used.
Configuring VoIP Channel Use
Configure how many currently existing external and internal VoIP channels are to be used.
Note:
A COMpact 3000 has two VoIP channels that can be purchased and
activated in the Upgrade Center in both the German and the international
PBX models. Each VoIP channel can be configured as internal or external.
The COMpact 3000 VoIP provides two additional VoIP channels in the basic
model; one of these channels can be configured as a permanent external
VoIP channel.
Configuration can be carried out as follows:
• Via the configuration manager
Requirements:
– VoIP channels (COMpact 3000 VoIP or VoIP channels purchased and activated in the
Upgrade Center)
– Configuration manager, opened with sufficient authorization
1. Open the page CONFIGURATION > Voice over IP (VoIP) > Settings.
Note: Configuration is also offered in the configuration wizard during quick
setup.
The available VoIP channels (Available VoIP channels) are displayed under Distri-
bution of the VoIP channels.
