Impact on communication
If a line in use is set as the mirror port, communication is no longer possible on the line. If a
line is set as the monitor port, communication is not affected.
When the change is applied
The change is applied immediately after setting values are changed.
Notes
1.
Only one combination of monitor port and mirror port can be set at the same time.
2.
A port that has already been set as a monitor port cannot be set as a mirror port.
3.
One mirror port can be set for multiple monitor ports. You cannot specify multiple
mirror ports for one monitor port.
4.
If the number of frames copied by port mirroring exceeds the line bandwidth, the
frames are discarded.
5.
Regular frames cannot be sent or received on a port that has been set as a mirror
port.
6.
A port for which Layer 2 information has been set cannot be set as a mirror port. If you
use a port for which Layer 2 information has already been set as a mirror port, delete
the Layer 2 information of the applicable interface before setting the port as a mirror
port.

For the mirroring of sent frames, the Switch mirrors the frames that are forwarded by
hardware. Outgoing frames are mirrored, but some frames are not. For details, see
Port Mirroring in Configuration Guide Vol. 2.
When received frames are mirrored, all received frames, including the incoming
frames, are mirrored.

When sent frames are mirrored, if multiple monitored ports are used and frames are
flooded to some or all ports, frames are mirrored as follows:

When sent frames are mirrored, even if untagged frames are sent, tagged frames that
have the tag of VLAN for the sent frames are mirrored.

When the following functionality is enabled on the mirror ports, the mirror ports send
control frames:

If the applicable ports are members of either the group consisting of ports 0/1 to
0/24, 0/49, and 0/50 or the group consisting of ports 0/25 to 0/48, two frames
are mirrored.
If the monitored ports are members of groups other than the above two groups,
one frame is mirrored.
