The term "router" in this document refers to a router in a generic sense or a Layer 3
switch.

2.1 RIP Configuration Commands

2.1.1 checkzero
Syntax

Description
Use the checkzero command to enable the zero field check on RIPv1 messages.
Use the undo checkzero command to disable the zero field check.
The zero field check is enabled by default.
After the zero field check is enabled, the router discards RIPv1 messages in which zero
fields are non-zero. If all messages are trusty, you can disable this feature to spare the
processing time of the CPU.
Examples
# Disable the zero field check on RIPv1 messages for RIP process 100.
<Sysname> system-view
[Sysname] rip 100
[Sysname-rip-100] undo checkzero
