Using an appropriate tool, press bearing onto the

IMPORTANT: Do not press on the bearing cage.

Place the weldment over the shaft and place the

second bearing onto the shaft.

Section 21 - Transmission, Drivelines - Chapter 6

Set Bearing Preload As Follows:

1. Attach a spring scale to one of the holes in the

gear/can weldment (1).

2. As the bearing is being pressed onto the shaft,

rotate the weldment until a rolling torque of 2.1 to

3.2 Nm (18 to 28 lb. inch) is obtained.

Install the spacer and shim pack.

Install the retainer ring.
