Alternative Method for Snap Ring

NOTE: This method can be used on any clutch

carrier. The large snap ring, backing plate, friction

plates, separator plates and reaction plate must be

removed first.

Install the compression plate (CAS 1903-2) over the

piston return Belleville washers. The counterbore of

the plate must go over the Belleville washers.

Install the compression plate (CAS 1903-1) with the

two cap screws and six tangs inside the clutch

carrier. The tangs on the plate must engage the snap

ring groove inside the carrier.

Section 21 - Transmission, Drivelines - Chapter 4

Compress the Belleville washers by tightening the

cap screws in the tool.

Remove the snap ring.
