Engine Start Up
Before the engine is started, the pump swash plate angle will be at its maximum angle. Therefore, as soon as the
engine is cranked by the starter the PFC axial piston pump will produce flow and, as explained above, pressure will
build in the pump delivery passage. As soon as this pressure reaches 340 to 390 psi (23.5 to 27 bar) the pump will
be put into its low pressure standby mode. This occurs almost instantly and makes engine starting much easier.
