Install separator plates as follows:

1. Install a separator plate.

2. Install the remaining 14 friction plates and 13

separator plates, alternating the plates.

Install the backing plate with the flat side of the plate

facing down.

Install the snap ring into the groove on the carrier.

Section 21 - Transmission, Drivelines - Chapter 6

Install the low range driven gear and clutch pack

assembly onto the shaft. The gear end of the carrier

must be facing up. The teeth on the medium gear

hub align with the fr iction plate teeth. Slight

oscillation of the low range driven gear will help with

the installation. Be sure the hub passes through all

the friction plates.

Install a caged bearing spacer and caged bearing.
