QSIG Trace
In addition to using the commands described previously, you can view the trace activity to help resolve
problems. The card level trace buffer contains very detailed event records and typically will not go back
further than an hour. To troubleshoot a problem, follow these steps:
1. Log on to the DTIC card (@conn X, where X = DTIC card slot number). At the qsig> prompt, enter
CL TRACE Enter
2. Reproduce the problem scenario.
3. Freeze the trace. Enter
TRA FRE Enter
4. List the trace to capture events related to the problem scenario:
LI TRA Enter
When you have the information you need, issue the CL TRACE command again to unfreeze the trace and
to clear the trace buffer.
.
To view a trace just after an event has occurred (before information has been overwritten) just use
the LI TRA command. Choose N when you are asked if you want to clear the trace queue.

For Layer 3 events, the trace shows the QSIG message type and relevant data extracted from the
information elements.
QSIG Trace Examples
The following two examples of trace activities provide a call scenario, the associated output from the CPT
trace, and the output from the card level trace reached by connecting to the DTIC (@CO X, where X =
DTIC card channel number).
