16.2 OCTEL 200/300 MESSAGE SERVER CONFIGURATION
To use an ISDN integration, you must make several changes to the Octel 200/300 message-server
configuration. Refer to the Configuration and Installation and Maintenance volumes for details about
configuring the message server.
To configure the Octel 200/300 message server to work with a PBX, you must make changes to UPDATE
in the System Parameter Table and Slots Table. The following sections explain the type of changes that
might be required.
System Parameters
You must set several system parameters to allow the DTIC to work correctly. Refer to the Configuration
volume, SYSTEM PARAMETER Table, for details about system parameters.
System Parameter 3 — PBX TYPE and PBX MODEL

Select the PBX type to be integrated.
System Parameter 198 —PCM ENCODING FOR THE SYSTEM

Set to 1 for A-law.
System Parameter 307 —MWI CONTROL EXTENSION FOR ISDN

Use for a Bosch-proprietary implementation of message waiting for ISDN. The value used is a
feature code configurable on the PBX. The default is 51. This value is prefixed to the extension
number when an MWI command is sent to the PBX.

Class of Service
Configure a COS for each of the 30 DTIC ports. No specific attributes are required for ISDN integration.
Refer to the Configuration volume, COS chapter, for more information about configuring the COS.
INFORMATION Table
INFORMATION Table Index 7 — RINGS BEFORE NO ANSWER
Use the number in this index to determine the timeout before the caller is informed that the extension did
not answer.
SLOTS Table
Use the SLOTS Table to configure the DTIC-E1. The following describes the information to be entered
for each port. After the slot is configured, restart the system for the DTIC to become operational. Refer to
the Configuration volume, SLOTS Table chapter, for more information about configuring the SLOTS
Table.
