8.2.1 OPERATION OF ROLM 9751 ADAPTIVE INTEGRATION
This chapter explains the configuration requirements of the Octelt 200/300 and the ROLM 9751 CBX,
Model 30 and Model 80 system with 9006i software. In this chapter these ROLM 9751 CBX systems are
referred to as ROLM Model 30/80 CBX.
.
This chapter is written solely for the ROLM 9751 CBX, Model 30 or Model 80 systems, Release
9006i or later. Do not configure any other ROLM system using the information in this chapter.
ROLM Adaptive Integration uses an "intelligent" connection between Octel 200/300 and the ROLM
Model 30/80 CBX. This connection is provided via the Octel 200/300 ROLM Interface Card (RIC). The
RIC appears to the ROLM Model 30/80 CBX as four ROLMphone 400s. The ROLMphone 400
connections to the Octel 200/300 are referred to as links.
.
The Octel 200/300 hardware used for all ROLM switch integrations is the same. The integration
methodology and configuration requirements are different, depending on which model of the
ROLM switch is involved.
The interface between the ROLM Model 30/80 CBX and the Octel 200/300 enables the following:
Called party identification (CPI) — identification of the source and original destination of calls
-
forwarded to the Octel 200/300.
Message waiting indication (MWI) — control of message waiting lamps on PBX stations.
-
Any information that can be provided to a display phone (either on the display itself or by the LEDs
associated with the keys on the phone) is available to the Octel 200/300. This information includes the
following:
The extension number of an internal station calling the Octel 200/300 directly.
-
The calling and called extension numbers of internal calls forwarded to the Octel 200/300. On external
-
calls, the calling extension number is replaced by the name assigned to the incoming trunk.
The trunk access code and member number of external calls that have been directed to the Octel
-
200/300 for primary answering.
The status of the called party (busy vs. no answer/all-calls) when calls are forwarded to the Octel
-
200/300.
In many situations, Personal Assistance and Auto-Transfer to Assistance are used to enhance system
operation. Personal assistance operates in conjunction with called party identification in integrated
systems. For details regarding these two features, refer to the Feature Description volume, Customizing
Mailbox Features chapter, for more information.
Message Waiting Indication. With the MWI feature, the Octel 200/300 can activate and deactivate
telephone message waiting indicators. MWI may be in the form of indicator lights on the phone sets,
stutter dial tone, or both, depending on how the ROLM Model 30/80 CBX system is equipped. Refer to
the ROLM Specific Configuration Requirements, Customer Telephone, and to the Octel 200/300
Configuration sections in this chapter.
