e. Look at the displays of ringing lines on the digital phone. The second line of the display should
contain this information:
a = Test A EXTA to Test B EXTB
If the display does not contain this information, determine the cause and correct the problem before
continuing.
f. Answer phone C. Hang up phone A and phone C.
5. MESSAGE WAITING INDICATOR TEST
(For installations using the Octel 200/300 to control message waiting indicators)
This test verifies that a message waiting indicator can be set and cleared using the LWC feature
codes programmed.
a. Connect the modular adapter to the 25-pair cable associated with the slot that contains ports
configured for lamp message waiting.
b. Connect the digital phone to the first jack position of the adapter that corresponds to the first port
configured for lamp message waiting.
c. Go off-hook and enter the LWC-STORE Feature access code followed by the extension number to
activate MWI for phone B, then hang up phone C. Is phone B's message waiting indicator ON?
NO
d. Go off hook on Line 1 and enter the feature access code and extension number to cancel the LWC
message waiting indication for phone B.
Is phone B's message waiting indicator OFF?
NO
NO
e. Repeat steps a. through d. for all ports configured.
6. DISPLAY TEST FOR DIRECT EXTERNAL CALLS
This test verifies that the APIC ports receive the proper display information from the PBX for
direct internal and direct external calls.
a. Connect the modular modular adapter to the 25-pair cable associated with the configured slot.
b. Connect one digital phone (phone C) to the jack position of the adapter that corresponds to Port 1.
c. Using phone A, call out of the PBX and back in on the trunk that auto-terminates at the APIC hunt
group.
d. Look at the display on the ringing line of the digital phone. The second line of the display should
contain this information:
a = T=XXX to D−YYY
