7. MESSAGE WAITING INDICATOR TEST
This test verifies that by using the special function keys on the display phone, a message waiting
indicator can be set and cleared for those units configured for lamp message waiting indication.
a.
Connect the display phone to the jack position of the modular adapter associated with Unit 1,
Link 1 on the RIC board.
b. (Turn message waiting ON test) — Lift the handset on the display phone.
Press the MSG CTR key. Enter the extension number associated with phone C. (Phone C must
be configured for message waiting). Is the LED associated with the MSC CTR key OFF?

Press MSG CTR key again. Does the MSG CTR LED turn ON?

Is the message waiting light on phone C flashing?
NO '
d. (Turn message waiting OFF test) — Lift the handset on the display phone.
Press the MSG CTR key and enter the extension associated with phone C. Is the LED associated with
the MSG CTR key ON?

Press the MSG CTR key again. Does the MSG CTR key LED turn OFF?

Is the message waiting light on phone C OFF?

f.
Connect the display phone to the jack position of the modular adapter associated with Unit 1,
Link 2 on the RIC board and repeat the tests.
g. Repeat the sequence for any other integration links configured for MWI.
