Called Party Identification. When a call comes in to a NEAX-2400 line that is forwarded* to the
Octel 200/300, the MCI sends the call record over the data link to the Octel 200/300. In most cases, the
Octel 200/300 receives the call record within the first ring of the forwarded call. The Octel 200/300
answers the call as soon as it receives the call record. The call record provides the Octel 200/300 with the
following information:
The called number
-
The type of call forwarding*
-
The calling number (station or trunk route number)
-
The extension number corresponding to the port
-
Refer to the Octel 200/300 Configuration for NEAX-2400 MCI section in this chapter.
The Octel 200/300 then responds with the called party's name, if recorded, or extension number and
status (i.e., "name/extension doesn't answer/is busy") and offers the caller choices such as leaving a voice
message, entering another extension number, or pressing
If a call record is not received after a configured number of rings, the Octel 200/300 processes the call
according to the mode of the port, i.e., playing the company greeting for that port.
If an extension calls directly to the Octel 200/300 UCD group, the Octel 200/300 receives a call record
that indicates the extension is a station on the NEAX-2400. The caller is prompted, "To enter your
mailbox, press pound..." The person calling may then enter the mailbox.
Refer to the Call Records in this chapter for more detailed information regarding how specific types of
calls are handled.
