3.3
PBX CONSIDERATIONS FOR ENHANCED DTMF IN-BAND
INTEGRATION
The key PBX configuration item is the call record format. The digits to be expected, the number of call
types, and the order of the call record elements must be determined.
A PBX that supports DTMF call records uses 2500-type lines for port extensions.
The PBX configuration may require modifications to enable calls to the Octel 200/300 port extensions to
include DTMF call records (i.e., sending or not sending a call record may be optional).
For PBXs with variable-length extension numbers, the default DTMFINT Table values often can be
configured to support it. Refer to Configuration Changes in this chapter.
The PBX may also require special hardware (line cards) or specific software features and release levels to
be able to provide the DTMF call records.
If a PBX provides for two separate internal call records, the Octel 200/300 can be configured with Call
Type 2 for direct internal calls and Call Type 12 for automatic logon. If a PBX provides one kind of
internal call record, Call Type 2 can be configured, and COS Attribute 110 — ALLOW ONLY LOGON
WHEN CALL SYSTEM and Attribute 111 — AUTO SIGN-IN FOR USER I.D. OR MAILBOX
NUMBER LOGON, can be assigned to a mailbox instead of assigning Call Type 12 to the system. As
with Call Type 12, this attribute allows mailbox holders to directly log on to their mailbox. When the
system is called from that mailbox, the prompt "Please enter your security code" is played.
.
If Call Type 12 is assigned, network calls cannot be made, Quick Greeting Activation is not
available, and Quick Messaging is available but is not prompted.
