12.3.1 OPERATION OF AT&T SYSTEM 85 ADAPTIVE INTEGRATION
This chapter explains the PBX and Octelt 200/300 message server configuration requirements and
testing procedures for correct operation of AT&T System 85/DEFINITY G2 (System 85) Adaptive
Integration when the APIC card is installed.
System 85 Adaptive Integration uses an intelligent connection between the Octel 200/300 and the System
85 PBX. This intelligent connection is provided by the Octel PBX Integration Card (referred to as APIC
for AT&T systems).
The APIC card can have up to 12 COD ports authorized. Each port connection to the APIC appears to the
System 85 as an AT&T 7405D digital display phone.
.
When the APIC card is installed, no analog ports are required.
The Octel 200/300 can process the call and provide call coverage based upon the type of call and desired
coverage. Any information that the System 85 provides to an AT&T display phone station (either on the
display itself or by the display set LEDs) is available to the Octel 200/300. This information includes the
following:
The trunk group number of external calls that have been directed to the Octel 200/300 for primary
-
answering
The trunk group number and the original called extension of external calls that have been forwarded
-
to the Octel 200/300
The calling and called extension numbers of internal calls that have been forwarded to the Octel
-
200/300
The extension number of an internal station calling the Octel 200/300 directly
-
Status of a forwarded call (Busy, RNA, or Send All Calls)
-
Caution!
The following sections describes message waiting indication, called party identification, and how the
System 85 and Called Party Identification work with the Octel 200/300 call processing features.
Message Waiting Indication. Message waiting indication enables the Octel 200/300 to activate and
deactivate the message waiting lamp available on phones to indicate when there are messages waiting on
the Octel 200/300.
.
If internal callers use the System 85 Leave Word Calling feature when calling another station, the
MWI lamp on the phone will light up. The person receiving the call does not know whether the
lamp is for message waiting indication or Leave Word Calling indication and will have to check
for both types.
