Testing Adaptive Integration
This section describes the procedures for testing Adaptive Integration features. When the NPIC card is
installed and operational and the PBX cable is reconnected to the correct Octel 200/300 ports, proceed with
the following tests.
1. CONFIGURING THE Octel 200/300 FOR TEST
Before proceeding, make the following changes to the Octel 200/300 configuration.

These changes are temporary; they are required only for testing.
a.
Add a mailbox that has a mailbox number matching the extension number for phone B. This is
referred to as mailbox B.
b. Assign these attributes to the COS for mailbox B.

c.
Add a second Octel 200/300 mailbox that has a mailbox number matching the extension number for
phone A. This is referred to as mailbox A. No attributes should be assigned to the COS for mailbox
A.
d. Check that the ring-no-answer count specified by INFORMATION Table Index 7 is less than the
number of rings specified by M1 coverage paths for forwarding on RNA.
2. TESTING THE Octel 200/300 NPIC PORTS
Use this test to verify that all PBX port extensions are connected to the correct Octel 200/300 ports.
a.
On the Octel 200/300 terminal, at the @ prompt, enter
L T
and select
1. ALL ACTIVITIES.
This shows the port on which the call came.
b. From phone A, place an outside call to the phone number associated with the Octel 200/300 pilot
number.
Does the Octel 200/300 answer with the company greeting?
NO
If the message server activity trace does not show that the correct port answered, change the port
connections to correct the problem.

The Port LED flashes approximately three times per second while a port is reporting ringing
to the VCU.
The LED flashes approximately 10 times per second while a port is reporting a line-drop
event (abandoned caller) to the VCU.
The Port LED is OFF if the port is idle and not in a "make set busy."
