Configuring SIC8 and M2616 Modular Telephone Sets
During INSTALL or UPDATE, the Octel 200/300 prompts whether to use a link for call processing, lamp
message waiting, or both.
.
For optimal performance, it is recommended that links not be configured to perform both call
processing and message waiting.
Line appearances in the SLOTS Table are the Octel 200/300 ports that have appearances in the PBX
configuration on the digital phone being emulated by the link. Each Octel 200/300 system port
configured for call processing must be configured on a minimum of two links.
The following is an example of 32 ports with one SIC8 board. All 32 ports are configured on each link
designated for call processing. No line appearances are required when a link is defined for message
waiting only.

When an Octel 200/300 has more than 32 ports, and more than one SIC8 board installed, line
appearances can be split between SIC8 boards.
When two SIC8 boards are installed, 16 ports can be assigned to links 1 to 4 of the SIC8 in the first slot
and 16 ports can be assigned to links 1 to 4 of the SIC8 in the second slot.
