Integration Volume
11.2 M1 PBX REQUIREMENTS
The M1 PBX is configured differently for an integrated application than it is for a non-integrated
installation.
All ports are configured to be in a single terminal hunt group. The directory number (DN) of each
-
port also has appearances on the M1 links (modular telephone extensions) connected to the Octel
200/300.
Calls on incoming trunks to be handled by the Octel 200/300 are directed to this hunt group by using
-
the M1 auto-terminate feature.
The primary directory numbers (PDN) of the M1 links are configured as separate numbers, not as
-
part of the Octel 200/300 hunt group.
Calls to extensions that are busy are forwarded to the Octel 200/300 hunt group on a
-
station-by-station basis.
Calls to extensions that are ring-no-answer are forwarded to the Octel 200/300 hunt group on a
-
station-by-station basis.
Calls to extensions that are forwarded (Forward All Calls) are forwarded to the Octel 200/300 on a
-
station-by-station basis.
The M1 installation requirements are divided into four categories: hardware, software, PBX-specific
configuration, and installation.
Hardware Requirements
Hardware is required to support both the SIC8 ports and the Line Interface Card (LIC) ports. Hardware
required consists of two parts — an analog and a digital interface.
Analog — Single Line Extension. The analog portion consists of the Octel 200/300 interface line
cards. Each port on the card is connected to an analog telephone interface (NT8D09AB, single line
extension, 2500 type). This is the same as in a conventional Octel 200/300 installation.
Caution!
Digital — Modular Telephone. The digital portion consists of eight M1 modular telephone lines for
the SIC8 board in Octel 200/300 (part number 300-6040-001).
Each modular telephone must have a display module and data adapter.
-
In configurations over 10 ports, links defined for call processing require a key expansion module for
-
each modular telephone.
