SL-1 PBX REQUIREMENTS

The SL-1 PBX is configured differently for an integrated application than it is for a non-integrated
installation.
All ports are configured to be in a single terminal hunt group. The directory number (DN) of each
-
port also has appearances on the SL-1 links (digit display extensions) connected to the Octel
200/300.
Calls on incoming trunks to be handled by the Octel 200/300 are directed to this hunt group by using
-
the SL-1 auto-terminate feature.
The primary directory numbers (PDN) of the SL-1 links are configured as separate numbers, not as
-
part of the Octel 200/300 hunt group.
Calls to extensions that are busy are forwarded to the Octel 200/300 hunt group on a
-
station-by-station basis.
Calls to extensions that are ring-no-answer are forwarded to the Octel 200/300 hunt group on a
-
station-by-station basis.
The SL-1 installation requirements are divided into three categories: hardware, software, and PBX
specific configuration.

Hardware Requirements

Hardware required consists of two parts — an analog and a digital interface.
Analog — Single Line Extension. The analog portion consists of the Octel 200/300 interface line
-
cards. Each port on the card is connected to an analog telephone interface (single line extension,
2500 type). This is the same as in a conventional installation.
Caution!
Digital — Digit Display Set. The digital portion consists of SL-1 Digit Display Set telephone lines
-
for the SLIC board in the Octel 200/300. To set up the digital testing:
Connect Link 1 and Link 2 of the SLIC to two lines on an SL-1 digital interface card (QPC 61 or
-
QPC 451).
Two pairs of wires, a voice pair and a digital pair, connect the SLIC to the interface card. The voice
pair is not used.
Connect Integration Unit 2, Link 1 and Link 2 in the same manner.
-
It is recommended that the digital display links be on different QPC cards in the SL-1 for reasons of
reliability.
The SLIC must be plugged into a configured slot.
For the Octel 300, the SLIC can be plugged into slots A1−A12.
Cables. One 25-pair cable per slot configured.
