Caution!
1. Plug the 25-pair cable into the NPIC slot.
2. Put on an antistatic wrist strap. Connect it to an unpainted portion of the cabinet.
3. While holding the top and bottom edges, slide the NPIC card into the card cage. Pivot the card
ejectors, as needed, to grip the small flanges on the front edges of the card cage.
Caution!
4. Seat the NPIC card connectors firmly into the motherboard by pressing the ejectors against the front
edge of the card. The ejectors clips onto small pins on the integration card when the connectors have
been seated.
Refer to the Power-on Routine section that follows, to monitor the LEDs.
5. In UPDATE, make the appropriate configuration changes.
6. Restart the message server.
.
7. Test the system for correct operation. Refer to the Testing Adaptive Integration section.
Once the down LED is OFF, the good LED is ON (green). The yellow LEDs are ON when the ports are
busy or out−of−service in the PBX. The out−of−service condition shows, starting with Release 4.0.
Power-on Routine
Once the NPIC card is installed, the red LED comes ON. When the selftest diagnostics are complete, the
green LED comes ON. When the card has been initialized and is ready for operation, the red LED goes
OFF within 5 minutes.
The NPIC then verifies operation. Verification takes about 2 minutes. Once a port is verified as working,
the yellow LED associated with each link is turned ON when a call is connected.

Make any changes to cross-connections before the
integration card is installed in the Octel 200/300.
Cross-connecting integration links when the
integration card is installed could result in damage to
the integration card.
Do not slam the integration card into the cabinet.
This could damage the board or motherboard
connectors.
Because the restart takes the NPIC out of service, the Northern Telecom switch generates
error codes. These error codes can be ignored.
The 16 port LEDs on the NPIC provide a simple visual indication of port status. The NPIC
port LEDs always remain OFF when an NPIC port is disconnected or while the NPIC
firmware is initializing the 2616 link to the PBX. The port LEDs flash briefly during the
initialization process. Once initialization is complete, the port LED reflects port status as
follows:
The Port LED is ON solid if a port is off-hook or forced into a "make set busy" state. It is also
on when the port is not in service from a PBX perspective.
