OCTEL 200/300 CONFIGURATION FOR NEAX-2400 MCI

Mailbox and extension numbers must match in the USER Table for message waiting indication and/or
called party identification to operate correctly. This is required because
For MWI, the Octel 200/300 activates and deactivates the MWI for the extension number associated
-
with the mailbox.
For CPI, the Octel 200/300 uses the extension number in the MCI call record to identify the calling
-
and called mailbox numbers.

Configuration Changes Required for Both MWI and CPI

The following System Parameter modifications are required for both MWI and CPI.

Configuration Requirements for MWI

The following COS modification is required for MWI.

System Parameter 51 — RS-232 INTEGRATED WITH PBX
Modify the value of this System Parameter to be YES.
System Parameter 180 — RS-232 BYTE FORMAT FOR PBX
INTEGRATION
This parameter can be set to 0 or 1:
0 = 7 bits/even parity
1 = 8 bits/no parity
7 bits/even parity is recommended for the NEAX-2400 PBX.
System Parameter 224 — PBX USES NEC LONG EXTENSION
FORMAT
If the expanded MCI call record format is used, modify System
Parameter 224 to Y. Refer to the MCI Call Records section in this
chapter.
COS Attribute 9 — LAMP OR DISPLAY PHONE MESSAGE
WAITING
Assign COS Attribute 9 only to mailboxes that should have MWI
activated. Instead of a Message Waiting Call, the Message Waiting
Lamp is lit. Calls may still be made off-site.
