Called Party Identification. Called party identification allows the Octel 200/300 to identify the source
(extension or external trunk number) of direct calls and the source and the original called extension of
forwarded calls. With this information, the Octel 200/300 can process the various types of calls
appropriately. The Octel 200/300 receives the necessary call information from the Mitel SX-100/SX-200
Analog through the Superset lines of the MIC. The following section describes how the Mitel
SX-100/SX-200 Analog and called party identification work with the Octel 200/300 call processing
features.
With called party identification, the Octel 200/300 distinguishes between internal calls and external trunk
calls, as well as between direct calls and forwarded calls. The Octel 200/300 identifies these different
types of calls with display information, which the PBX sends through the Superset lines of the MIC. The
following describes how the Octel 200/300 uses call record information to identify and process various
types of calls.
When phones are set to forward to the Octel 200/300 on ring-no-answer (RNA)/busy, the
Octel 200/300 provides secondary answering for both internal and external calls. The Mitel
SX-100/SX-200 Analog does not provide the Octel 200/300 with the reason a call was forwarded, so the
Octel 200/300 reports the status of all forwarded calls as "Extension XXX is unavailable. . ."
Direct Calls from External Trunks
Specific trunks of the Mitel SX-100/SX-200 Analog can be directed to the Octel 200/300 for answering
via the Mitel SX-100/SX-200 Analog's trunk configuration. See the Mitel SX-100/SX-200 Analog
Configuration, Trunks, in this chapter, for the requirements to configure the trunk. For calls coming in on
these trunks, the Mitel SX-100/SX-200 Analog provides the Octel 200/300 with a display containing the
following information:
TXXX CALLING
XXX is the three-digit trunk number that the Octel 200/300 uses to identify trunks. With this information,
the Octel 200/300 can process external calls according to which trunk they are received on.
The Octel 200/300 answers an external call with the company greeting assigned to the trunk group
containing that call. Since the Octel 200/300 identifies which trunk a call comes in on, different company
greetings may be configured for different trunks.
Upon hearing the greeting, the caller may enter an extension number. The Octel 200/300 transfers the call
to ringing. The caller then hears ringback until the called party answers or until the PBX forwards the call
to the Octel 200/300 for secondary answering.
Forwarded External Calls
Upon forwarding an external call to the Octel 200/300, the Mitel SX-100/SX-200 Analog provides the
Octel 200/300 with a display containing the following information:
FROM YYY
YYY is the number of the extension that the call was forwarded from. Upon receiving this display, the
MIC uses the Superset 4's display line status feature to identify the source of the call. The PBX then
provides a display containing the following information:
TXXX CALLING
