NEAX-2400 CONFIGURATION

Each Octel 200/300 port requires a 2500-type NEAX-2400 station extension. The appropriate number of
NEAX-2400 station lines for the ports must be provided and programmed as a UCD group with MCI.

Extension Requirements

All extensions to be call forwarded to the Octel 200/300 /MCI ports require each of the following to be
programmed on the NEAX-2400. The Adaptive Integration option, which includes both called party
identification (CPI) and message waiting indication (MWI) features, is required.
All NEAX-2400 lines that forward to the Octel 200/300 UCD group must be programmed to
-
generate a call record over the MCI link.
The lines must also be programmed to forward to the Octel 200/300 UCD group on the desired
-
condition:
Ring no answer forwarding to the MCI group. (For called party identification)
-
Busy Forwarding to the MCI group. (For called party identification)
-
Phones that have mailboxes on the Octel 200/300 should be set up in the NEAX-2400 switch to have
-
Message Waiting Lamp Indication if desired. (For message waiting indication)

NEAX-2400 Line Cards

The NEAX-2400 supports three types of line cards for single line sets:
The 16LCG card — provides dial tone.
-
The 16LCGB card — adds the ability to light message waiting lamps if the 2500 set is equipped with
-
them.
The 16LCQ card — supports message waiting and provides a pulse when an outside caller hangs up,
-
allowing the 2500 port to disconnect. The 16LCQ card is recommended to support the 2500 ports
that the Octel 200/300 is attached to. If this card is used, modify System Parameter 77 — PBX
PROVIDES MOMENTARY DISCONNECT, to be YES.

MCI Feature

The MCI feature consists of both hardware and software.
Software
There are two possible modes of operation — Feature 1 and Feature 2. Feature 2 should be specified for
proper operation with the Octel 200/300.
Hardware
The MCI link uses one of the RS-232C ports available. Only one port may be designated for MCI. Each
port can support one of several transmission protocols. The protocol is configurable through a series of
dip switch settings on the port card. The protocol required for the Octel 200/300 is specified in the
Installation and Maintenance volume, Installation chapter, Connecting Terminals section.
