PREFIX DIGITS Table
PB60019-01
The PREFIX DIGITS Table translates the digits received in an
integrated call record and the translated value is used for CPI. For
MWI, the Table is used to translate the value in the extension field of
the USER Table to a call record that can be processed by the switch.
Configure the PREFIX DIGITS Table with the digits to translate for
CPI and MWI. The PREFIX DIGIT Table can have a total of 2048
entries in any combination of CPI and MWI.
.
The TRANSLATION Table is no longer used for Centrex
configuration. The PREFIX DIGITS Table translates the
(Centrex) SMDI integration configuration. The TRANSLATION
Table is used for other RS-232 integrations, Enhanced DTMF
In-band integration and proprietary card integration (SLIC, RIC,
ATTIC).
In a Centrex installation, the extension numbers are usually four or
seven digits in length. The number dialed by outside callers can be up
to 10 digits. The call records sent over the SMDI link to the Octel
200/300 reflect the digits dialed. The PREFIX DIGITS Table is used to
translate the call record received into the mailbox number of the called
and calling party.
When the Octel 200/300 sends a MWI command over the SMDI link to
turn ON or OFF the MWI for a mailbox, the Public Exchange (PE)
expects a seven- or ten-digit Centric number corresponding to that
extension. The Octel 200/300 uses the PREFIX DIGITS Table to
translate the extension number before sending the WMK. command.
Intercom PBXs send SMDI records with ASCII periods preceding the
extension number instead of office code digits or other numbers. The
PREFIX DIGITS Table may contain one or more ASCII periods to be
removed.
The following is an example of a large Centrex installation that has
4-digit extensions and mailboxes. The number banks associated with the
existing 294 prefix are exhausted, indicating the need for the use of a
second prefix. The existing 294 prefix includes the number banks
294-57XX and 294-59XX. In the example, a second prefix, 286, is
added to support numbers in the 286-55XX number bank.
Centrex numbers to be supported are
294-2XXX
294-3XXX
294-4XXX
