17. CALLS TO THE INTERCEPT EXTENSION (For new install)
This test verifies that the Octel 200/300 can transfer a call to the intercept position (attendant)
when the caller does nothing or presses
a.
From telephone A, call outside of the PBX and back in on a trunk dedicated to the Octel
200/300.
b. Does the Octel 200/300 answer correctly?
NO
c.
Listen to the complete company greeting. Press
d. Did you reach the correct intercept position?
YES
NO
e.
From telephone A, call out and back in on a trunk dedicated to the hunt group. When the Octel
200/300 answers, let the system time out (do not enter any digits).
f.
Does the Octel 200/300 transfer the call to the appropriate intercept position?
NO
18. MESSAGE WAITING
a.
From telephone A, call out and back in on a trunk dedicated to the Octel 200/300.
b. Does the Octel 200/300 answer properly?
NO
c.
Make sure telephone C is busy by taking it off-hook. From the Octel 200/300, enter the
extension number associated with mailbox XXX.
d. After a predetermined interval, the Octel 200/300 should reconnect and on telephone A you
should hear, "Extension (telephone C) is busy. Please leave a message at the tone, enter another
extension number, or press zero for assistance."

Leave a test message for telephone C.

The Octel 200/300 should now initiate a message waiting notification call to the extension
associated with telephone C.

A message is not delivered to a mailbox unless it is at least 6.0 seconds in length. Verify
that the message is at least 10−15 seconds in length to ensure a valid message.
In a system with eight or less ports, there must be at least two idle ports marked for
OUTCALL before message waiting calls are made. In a system with nine or more ports,
at least three ports marked for OUTCALL must be idle.
