If the digital display phone used as a test set requires an external power source, the ATT400B2

external power adapter is required.
Refer to Figure 12.3-1 for the location of the feature buttons.
Begin these testing procedures after the test extensions are configured, test phones A and B are installed,
and the System 85 is prepared for testing.
1. PRELIMINARY DIGITAL EXTENSION TEST
This test verifies that dial tone is present on each of the extensions used for the APIC ports.

a. Connect the modular adapter to the 25-pair cable associated with the configured slot.
b. Connect a digital telephone (phone C) to the first jack position of the adapter.

c. Press the first line appearance button and verify that the red lamp next to the appearance is ON
steady.

d. Go off-hook. Is a dial tone present?

e. Press the first line appearance button and verify that the red and green lamp next to the
appearance is on steady.

f. From phone A, call the extension for the first APIC port. Does phone C ring?
NO
Is the green lamp associated with Line 1 of the digital phone flashing?
NO
g. Look at the display of the digital phone. The second line of the display should contain this
information:
a = Test A EXTA
h. Repeat steps a. through g.for each of the APIC ports.

The 25-pair cables should be disconnected from the back of the Octel 200/300.
All 12 jack positions of the modular adapter are used per cable.
