6. DISPLAY TEST FOR DIRECT EXTERNAL CALLS
This test verifies that the APIC ports receive the proper display information from the PBX for
direct internal and direct external calls.
a.
Connect the modular modular adapter to the 25-pair cable associated with the configured slot.
b. Connect one digital phone (phone C) to the jack position of the adapter that corresponds to
Port 1.
c.
Using phone A, call out of the PBX and back in on the trunk that auto-terminates at the APIC
hunt group.
d. Look at the display on the ringing line of the digital phone. The second line of the display should
contain this information:
a = T=XXX to D−YYY
T-XXX is the group name of the trunk group the call came in on. D-YYY is the extension of the
APIC hunt group.

Hang up phone A and phone C.
7. CALLS TO THE INTERCEPT EXTENSION (ATTENDANT) (For new installation only)
This test verifies that each Octel 200/300 port extension can transfer a call to the intercept
extension (attendant).
a.
Connect phone C to the jack position of the modular adapter that is associated with port 1 of the
Octel 200/300.
b. From phone A, call the extension number of phone C.
c.
Answer phone C, then press the transfer key. After you hear dial tone, enter
attendant's extension number). Hang up phone C.
Does phone A connect to the attendant?
NO
d. Connect phone C to the jack position of the modular adapter of the next Octel 200/300 port
extension. Repeat steps b. through d. until every Octel 200/300 port has successfully transferred
a call to the attendant.
The System 85 testing is now complete. Proceed with installation of the APIC board(s).
