For telephones to have a visible message waiting indicator, configure them to have message waiting

under the COS (Class of Service). If message waiting is activated and the lamp is not activated, then the

PBX uses stutter dial tone for message waiting indication. The SL-1 codes are as follows:

Lamps on 2500 sets

2500 set without lamp

Octel 200/300

Message Waiting (MWA)

Lamp Allowed (LPA)

Message Waiting (MWA)

(Stutter dial tone is received)

Assign a key for message waiting

lamp and CLS with MWA. If all keys

are already programmed, stutter dial

tone is given.
