Station Extensions
Check the ONS/OPS Assignment form and the Superset 4 Assignment form to see that station owners are
assigned Interconnect Numbers that allow them to access the Octel 200/300 hunt group.
For only those SX-2000 PBXs without the COV Voice Mail Port class of service option, all station
extensions that are to receive call coverage from the Octel 200/300 must either have no name
programmed in the SX-2000 telephone directory, or have a Name programmed according to the Naming
Conventions at the beginning of this section. This is because when a MIC port receives a forwarded call,
the PBX provides only the name, not the extension number, as the called party identification.
Make sure the Call Forward - No Answer timer for each user's PBX class of service is set to a time
interval longer than the number of rings specified in the Octel 200/300 INFORMATION Table options
Rings Before No Answer and Message Waiting Rings.
Configuration for Message Waiting Indication
To ensure that the Octel 200/300 can control message waiting indicators on single line stations, be sure
that those stations with lamps are assigned an appropriate ONS/OPS Circuit Descriptor number. Stations
without indicators, as well as those with indicators, can receive message waiting notification by a special
message waiting tone after going off-hook. To enable this tone message waiting notification, assign
stations an SX-2000 class of service with the option Message Waiting - Tone Set to YES.
The ONS/OPS Circuit Descriptor Assignment form contains a Message Waiting Lamp entry that must be
set to YES to enable message waiting indicator. Circuit Descriptor form numbers are assigned to stations
on the ONS/OPS Assignment form.
Stations for which the Octel 200/300 is controlling message waiting indication must have the PBX class
of service option MESSAGE WAITING − DEACTIVATE ON OFF-HOOK set to NO in order for the
Octel 200/300 message waiting indication to work properly.
If attendants or other station owners use the Message Waiting − Activate and Message Waiting −
Deactivate feature access codes, this will interfere with the Octel 200/300's control of message waiting
indicators.
