12.3.2 AT&T SYSTEM 85 REQUIREMENTS
The System 85 installation requirements are divided into three categories: Hardware, Software, and
Configuration.
Hardware Requirements
The System 85 hardware interface requires one digital voice port on the switch configurable as a 7405 D
telephone for each APIC message server port. For greater reliability, ports should be provided from
multiple cards in the switch.
One 25-pair cable per APIC slot is required, from the Octel 200/300 to the location for connecting the
ports.

When using 2500-type telephone sets with message waiting lamps other than AT&T 3178-SYSI or
equivalent, special PBX hardware may be required in order to allow the System 85 to control the
message waiting lamp.
Software Requirements
The following System 85 software is required for the installation:
Release 2; Version 2 (or later)

Options Required in package − None

For DEFINITY G2, any software release is acceptable.
Configuration Requirements
The System 85 configuration must have a single ACD/EUCD/UCD group available for Octel 200/300
ports. The Name fields for all extensions must include the extension number.
