Configuring the Test Extensions
For testing purposes, two additional analog extensions and one additional digital extension must be
configured in the DEFINITY G3 before performing the tests described in the following subsections.
.
The two analog phones may be replaced with digital telephones.
For the test procedures, the phones are referred to as phone A, phone B, and phone C. Configure the test
extensions as follows:
1. Allocate two analog extensions (single line, touchtone telephone) or digital extensions in the PBX.
The extension numbers of these extensions must be consistent with the format of the mailbox
numbers in the Octel 200/300 USER Table. For example, the first digit and the number of digits in
the extensions must correspond to the mailbox numbering scheme.
2. Configure one extension (phone B) with message waiting indication.
In the Name field on the STATION data entry screen for phone B's extension, enter
Test B EXTB
where EXTB is one extension number.
In the tests that follow, the number of this extension is referred to as EXTB. Assign this station the
same COR assigned to the Octel 200/300 ports and a coverage path in which the Octel 200/300 hunt
group is the first coverage point. The coverage path must specify forwarding on RNA and busy.
3. Configure the second extension (phone A) with message waiting indication.
In the Name field on the STATION data entry screen for phone A's extension, enter
Test A EXTA
where EXTA is the second extension number.
In the tests that follow, the number of this extension is referred to as EXTA. Assign this station the
COR assigned to the Octel 200/300 ports and the same coverage path assigned to extension EXTB.
4. Allocate one digital extension (phone C) in the DEFINITY G3. It should be configured the same as
the extension of the digital ports.
In the Name field on the STATION data entry screen for phone C's extension, enter
D-EXT Test C
where EXT is the digital extension number.
Testing Definity G3
The tests in this section are performed before the actual installation of the APIC card(s). For these tests,
disconnect from the Octel 200/300, the 25-pair cable connecting the Octel 200/300 ports to the
DEFINITY G3. Before disconnecting the Octel 200/300 25-pair cable, mark each one with the slot
