6.5 SL-1 TESTING
The SL-l Testing section describes the procedures for installing and testing of the SL-1 adaptive
integration.
The system should always be checked for proper operation after the configuration database is installed or
changes are made.

If the CO is equipped with a DMS-100, ground start circuitry will need to be ordered. Refer to
your PBX manual.
In addition to the system test, there are some tests that should be made before the Octel 200/300 is
connected. These tests are described in this section.
The tests require the following equipment.

These tests assume no other calls are being made into the Octel 200/300. If the Octel 200/300
receives other calls, the test results may be invalid.

Description
3 2500-type (single line touchtone) phones, one with a message waiting
indicator.
1 Terminal/Teleprinter directly connected to the Octel 200/300, via
RS-232C cable.
1 Hard copy of the configuration database.
2 Extensions for testing, connected to RJ11 jacks. One of these extensions
must be configured for message waiting. Both must be configured for
RNA and busy forwarding.
2 SL-1 Digit Display Set phones with a 20 button add-on module. These
phones are required for testing purposes only (to emulate the SLIC
card).
1 Hard copy of the SL-1 Digit Display Set button configuration.
1 Hard copy of port mapping information (PRTMAP command).
2 Modular adapters — recommend Armiger 8-position modular adapter,
part number AA-2560A or equivalent.
