ports used in the transfer go onhook. Note that you must remain on line with the operator for at
least 10 seconds. Do ports go onhook?

MAKE DIRECT INTERNAL CALL TO THE OCTEL 200/300
This test verifies that the Octel 200/300 processes a direct internal call correctly.
a.
From phone A, call the extension number for Octel 200/300 access. Does the message server
answer with "To enter your mailbox press pound..."?
NO ® Determine the cause and correct the problem before continuing.

Enter the security code and verify that the correct mailbox has been accessed.
d. Enter 9 9 to exit from the message server and hang up phone A.

MAKE INTERNAL CALL TO A RING–NO–ANSWER EXTENSION
This test verifies that the Octel 200/300 processes a call forwarded from a ring–no–answer (RNA)
extension.
a.
From phone A, call phone B. Does phone B start to ring?
NO ® Determine the cause and correct the problem before continuing.
b. Do not answer phone B. After the number of ringbacks configured on the PBX for RNA, does
phone B stop ringing?
NO ® Determine the cause and correct the problem before continuing.
After phone B stops ringing, does the message server respond with the prompt, "[name] doesn't
answer. Please leave a message at the tone"?
Enter 9 9 to exit from the message server and hang up phone A.

TEST MESSAGE WAITING FOR SYSTEMS USING THE MESSAGE SERVER TO
CONTROL MESSAGE WAITING INDICATION
This test verifies correct operation of message waiting notification for installations using the
message server to control message waiting indicators.
a.
Activate busy diversion for phone A. Make phone A busy by calling another extension from phone
A.
b. From phone B, call out and back in on a trunk that auto–terminates at the message server. Does the
message server answer properly?
NO ® Determine the cause and correct the problem before continuing.
c.
Dial the extension number of phone A. The message server should respond with "Extension
EXT–A is in use/busy. Please leave a private message at the tone, dial another extension number,
or dial (zero) for assistance."
d. Leave a test message for phone A. Does the message server activate the message waiting
indication (either a visual indicator or message waiting dial tone) on phone A?
