Testing Procedure

After the text extensions are configured and the AT&T System 85 is prepared for testing, begin the
testing procedure.
1. PRELIMINARY ANALOG EXTENSION TEST
This test verifies that dial tone is present on each of the single line analog extensions used for
the Octel 200/300 ports.
a. Disconnect the 25-pair cables from the back of the Octel 200/300.
b. Connect the analog modular adapter to the 25-pair cable associated with slot 1.
c. Connect a 2500-type single line telephone to the first jack position of the adapter.

d. Go off-hook. Is dial tone present?
YES
NO
2. PRELIMINARY DIGITAL EXTENSION TEST
This test verifies that dial tone is present on all configured line appearances of the digital
extensions used for the ATTIC links.

a. Connect the 356A modular adapter to the 25-pair cable associated with the configured slot.
b. Connect the digital phone to the jack position of the adapter that corresponds to Integration Unit
1, Link 1 of the ATTIC.
c. Press the first line appearance button and verify that the red lamp next to the appearance is ON
steady.
NO
d. Go off-hook on the digital phone. Is dial tone present?
NO
Verify that both the red and green lamps next to line appearance 1 are ON steady, then go
on-hook and proceed to step d.
NO
e. Press the line appearance button for the next call appearance configured.
f. Repeat steps d. and e. for each of the line appearances that are configured.
g. Connect the digital phone to the jack position of the modular adapter associated with the next
link.

Repeat B, C and D for all extensions and cables for each slot configured with line
