16.4 TESTING THE INSTALLATION
Use the following to test the message server/ISDN Adaptive Integration features. After the configuration
changes are complete, use these tests to verify that Adaptive Integration is working properly.
Configuration of Test Extensions
Allocate two extensions in the PBX and connect telephones to them for placing test calls. The extension
numbers must be consistent with the format of the mailbox numbers in the message server USER Table
(that is, the first digit and number of digits in the extensions must correspond to the mailbox numbering
scheme). The testing descriptions refer to these phones as phone A and phone B.
Integration Testing
When the DTIC-E1 is installed and operational, and the PBX is connected to the correct message server
ports, proceed as follows to test the Adaptive Integration features:
1.
CONFIGURE THE MESSAGE SERVER FOR TEST
Before proceeding, make the following changes to the message server configuration.

a.
Add a message server mailbox with a mailbox number that matches the extension number for
phone A. This mailbox is referred to as mailbox A.
b. Assign Attribute 9 —
(only if you are using message waiting indication).
c.
Add a second message-server mailbox with a mailbox number that matches the extension
number for phone A. This is referred to as mailbox B. Assign no attributes to the COS for
mailbox B.
d. Record a name and a greeting for each mailbox.
e.
Set the security code for each mailbox.
2.
CALL THE INTERCEPT EXTENSION
This test verifies that the message server can transfer a call to the Intercept position (attendant)
when the caller does nothing or dials
a.
From phone A, call outside the PBX and back in on a trunk that auto-terminates at the message
server. Does the message server answer correctly?
NO ® Determine the cause and correct the problem before continuing.
b. Listen to the complete company greeting. Dial

c.
From phone A, call out and back in on a trunk that auto-terminates at the message server. When
the message server answers, let the system time out (do not enter any digits).
Does the message server transfer the call to the appropriate intercept position?
