14.3 MD110 REQUIREMENTS
This section is a guideline to setting up a Octel 200/300 with MD110 and can be used as a supplement for
technicians and field support maintenance personnel. It is not meant to be a replacement for any product
related documents and is not a substitute to formal training of technicians.
The MD110 installation and configuration requirements are divided into three categories: Hardware,
Software, and Configuration.
Before configuring the message server for adaptive integration, complete the following and place a check
mark in the n column:

Hardware Requirements
The MD110 hardware interface requires an analog or digital line card and a RS-232C serial link.
An ICU cable is required to connect the filter board or unit and the message server's J2 port and from the
filter board or unit to the ICU board. A RS-232C serial cable connects the PC to the message server J1 port.
Software Requirements
Any terminal emulation/communication program can be used.
For the MD110, install the following program units:
IHAH in one LIM
IHH in one LIM
DIM in one LIM

Before making any changes, print out the database, verify and highlight areas
where changes are required.
Verify the MD-110 software level and feature package installed. Software
level BC 6.0 or later with Voice Mail Integration is required.
The routes and trunks to be answered by the message server must terminate to
the main pilot number of the hunt group.
The MD-110 lines must also be programmed to forward to the message server
hunt group on the desired conditions:
RNA Forwarding to the Voice Mail Integration Group (CPI)

Busy Forwarding to the Voice Mail Integration Group (CPI)

Set up message waiting lamp indication or message waiting dial tone on mail-
boxes/extensions in the MD-110 for MWI.
Set the MD110 Ring-No-Answer diversion parameter for forwarding to the
message server to 4 rings.
