a Decompress the spring.

a If necessary, replace any faulty filter unit compo-
nents (see 31A, Front axle components, Filter
unit assembly: Removal - Refitting, page 31A-53)

a Place the tool spring compressor in a vice
equipped with jaws.
a Compress the spring.
