Command Reference Guide
ip pim-sparse hello-timer <time>
Use the ip pim-sparse hello-timer command to specify protocol-independent multicast (PIM) sparse hello
timer period. This is the time interval at which periodic hellos are sent out on all interfaces of a
PIM-capable router. Use the no form of this command to return to the default value.

Default Values
By default, the hello timer is set to 30 seconds.
Applicable Platforms
This command applies to the NetVanta 2000 and 5000 and Total Access 900 Series units.

Usage Examples
The following example sets the hello timer to 60 seconds:
(config)#interface eth 0/1
(config-eth 0/1)#ip pim-sparse hello-timer 60
61200990L1-35E
Specifies the time in seconds between hello transmissions. Valid range is 10 to
12,600 seconds.
