ENCODER DEFECT
Service Information and Procedures Class A 2385072-16-8EN
Possible Cause/Recommended Action
Rotation node does not execute the command
because it has not seen on CAN a signal indicating
that the corresponding Rotation button had been
pressed.
1. Try other motions (lift for example). If "button not
pressed" appears again, a CAN communication
problem exists.
2. Otherwise, try same lift motion but by pressing
other buttons than the initial one.
- If "button not pressed" appears again, the faulty
FRU is the Rotation board
- If "button not pressed" appears only when the
initial Rotation button is pressed, the faulty FRUs
are the boards linked to the UIF that has been
pressed for the motion. For example, Lift board,
Compression board, or Tube Tilt board.
3. Rotation, Compression, or Tilt re-calibration is
required following corresponding board replace-
ment.
The watch-dog receives a pulse from microcontroller
every 40 ms. If not, it resets the microcontroller, and
the rotation node restarts and sends a boot-up signal
to Gantry CPU. The only possible reason for a boot-
up of a node after system power-up is a reset by
watchdog. Therefore, when Gantry CPU receives the
boot-up signal, it produces the SWOverRun error.
This failure is linked to a firmware problem (micro-
controller or CPLD) on the Rotation board. Change
the Rotation board then perform a Rotation Calibra-
tion.
There is a Potentiometer Defect
Rotation node checks that the signal coming from
the potentiometer is within an acceptable range.

FAILURE on page 950
For every node equipped with a coding wheel. If a
coding wheel defect detected through the comple-
mented HW lines, the IPMS stops, and forbids the
motion and sends an error message.
The signal coming from motor encoder contains four
phases. A, A complementary, B, B complementary.
Node checks two things: complementarity +
sequence of phases.
