2-31 JC DIAG A1213 COMPRESSION CONTROL FAILURE
Diagnostic for:
122/043 error code (CAN code is 0x502C) Force sensor error
• First measure the frequency on pin 3 of Compression Board connector J10. The nominal value is
2 kHz to 20 kHz, with a 5 VDC amplitude square waveform.
• If no signal can be measured:
- First change cable W304.
- If still no signal can be detected, change cable W304b.
- If still no signal can be detected, change the PL304 paddle detector board.
- If still no signal can be detected, change the compression force sensor (see

- If still no signal can be detected, change the Compression Board (see

• If the signal is detected but the measured frequency is out of the specified limits:
- First change the compression force sensor (see

- If the frequency is still incorrect, change the PL304 paddle detector board.
• If the measured signal is good and within the specified limits, but the error is still reported, change the
Compression Board. See

Diagnostic for:
122/002 error code (CAN code is 0x5038) absolute range error
Error name: potentiometer range error
• First check that the potentiometer screw is not broken. If it is, change the potentiometer and cable
(see Job Card D/R A243 - Compression Potentiometer and Cable on page
• Check that the potentiometer cable (W303) is not damaged. If it is, change the potentiometer and
cable (see Job Card D/R A243 - Compression Potentiometer and Cable on page
• If the cable is good, measure resistance between pins 1-2, 1-3, and 2-3 while moving the potentiom-
eter steel wire.
- If the resistance does not change linearly in accordance with movement of the steel wire, or the
value of the potentiometer is not equal to its nominal value, change the potentiometer and cable.
