PREVENTIVE ACTIONS THAT MAY REDUCE TUBE ARCING
During tube lifecycle, it is normal to observe tube arcing, which generates exposure spit/interruption.
Note:
Do not plan to replace the tube if tube arcing occurrence is low (1 tube arcing every 400 exams).
Nevertheless, it is recommended to perform the calibrations below.
Tube arcing may:
Occur more frequently for brand new and old tubes
Increase with tube usage as a result of wrong or inaccurate generator calibrations.
It may be possible that
corrective action. Intermittent arcing failure may result from a calibration or a heater current that is not
adjusted to the current tube state. For information on heater current regulation, see
Heater Current Management on page
Since tube usage may change the tube characteristics, it may be useful to perform all the calibrations
that are required at tube change. See the
Assembly on page
1353.
Perform the following calibrations:
Calibrations - Checks
Acquisition Image Chain
Bias Calibration
Heating Current Calibration
mAs X-ray Calibration
Tube Tilt Calibration
Collimator Calibration
Collimation Check
Bad Pixel Calibration
Gain calibration
flat field tests
Half Value Layer
Conversion Factor
AOP: Automatic Optimization of Parameters
AOP Calibration
mAs non linearity
AOP/SNR Check
If AOP/SNR Test not OK, repeat all calibrations from AOP Calibration
Considering that tube arcing may result from a tube instability regarding its heater state, if the generator/
tube calibration doesn't reduce the tube arcing occurrence, you may ask the operator to perform the
heating procedure for the selected focal spot size (large or small) when the system has not been used
