Job Card TSG A007 - Digital Detector Firmware Corrupted

1 SYMPTOMS
The detector contains firmware in a PROM mounted on its electronic cards. In certain cases, the IDC
can download this firmware when the version of the detector is not compatible with IDC version
To verify the detector FW is possibly corrupt, do the following:
1. Restart the IDC by pressing the Reset button on the IDC (on front of the IDC if a Dione5 or at the
back of the IDC if a Dione4).
2. From behind the Browser, launch a command window (see
page 120).
A command window appears with an ADS prompt.
3. Make a telnet connection with the IDC by entering:
telnet idc
At the IDC login prompt press the enter key, and at the password prompt press the enter key.
A -> prompt appears.
4. If the detector FW is corrupt, the following IDC traces appear with a detector boot error:
Detector FW Signature : 0x40080010
DETECTOR boot ERROR
=> power OFF the Detector (1 mn)
Note:
You can monitor the boot sequence in a telnet idc window.
These symptoms can seem rather like a fiber optics communication failure, for example, or any other
failure that prevents IDC from booting. Therefore, you must suspect firmware corruption only if the IDC
or the detector has been changed and a software compatibility problem has occurred.
2 SOLUTION
There exists a way to force a detector firmware download from IDC to the detector. Apply the following
steps if you think that the detector firmware is corrupted:
1. Restart the IDC by pressing the Reset button on the IDC (on front of the IDC if a Dione5 or at the
back of the IDC if Dione4).
2. From behind the Browser, launch a command window (see
page 120).
A command window appears with an ADS prompt.
3. Make a telnet connection with the IDC by entering:
telnet idc
At the IDC login prompt press the enter key, and at the password prompt press the enter key.
A -> prompt appears.
4. At the -> prompt, type the following command but do not press the return key at this stage to exe-
cute it:
downloadDetectorFW
Some messages appear on the screen indicating that the IDC must be rebooted.
5. Wait for a message on the IDC telnet screen, saying that the IDC will wait for 1 minute before it
retries to power on the detector. When you see this message, immediately press the return key to
