Motor Rotates in the Opposite Direction from the Run Command

Cause
Phase wiring between the drive and motor is incorrect.
The forward direction for the motor is set up incorrectly.
The forward run and reverse run signal connections of the
drive's control circuit terminals and control panel side are
incorrect.
The motor is running at almost 0 Hz and the Speed Search
estimated the speed to be in the opposite direction.

Motor Rotates in One Direction Only

Cause
The drive prohibits reverse rotation.
A Reverse run signal has not been entered, although 3-Wire
sequence is selected.

Motor is Too Hot

Cause
The load is too heavy.
The motor is running continuously at an extremely low
speed.
The drive is operating in a vector control mode but Auto-
Tuning has not yet been performed.

6.10 Troubleshooting without Fault Display
Possible Solution
• Check the wiring between the drive and motor.
• Connect drive output terminals U/T1, V/T2, and W/T3 in the right order
to match motor terminals U, V, and W.
• Switch two motor cables (U, V, and W) to reverse motor direction.
• Connect drive output terminals U/T1, V/T2, and W/T3 in the right order
to match motor terminals U, V, and W.
• Switch two motor cables (U, V, and W) to reverse motor direction.

Figure 6.1 Forward Rotating Motor
Note:
• For Yaskawa motors, forward is designated as being counterclockwise
when looking from the motor shaft.
• Refer to the specifications of the motor being used, and confirm the
forward rotation direction. The forward rotation direction of motors
may differ depending on manufacturer and type.
Wire the control circuit correctly.
Disable bi-directional search by setting b3-14 = 0 [Bi-Direction Speed
Search Select = Disabled] so that speed search is performed only in the
specified direction.
Possible Solution
Set b1-04 = 0 [Reverse Operation Selection = Reverse enabled].
Enable the reverse operation by setting H1-xx = 0 [3-Wire Sequence] ON.
Possible Solution
• Reduce the load.
• Increase the acceleration and deceleration times.
• Check the values set in L1-01 [Motor Overload Protection Select], L1-02
[Motor Overload Protection Time], and E2-01 [Motor Rated Current
(FLA)].
• Use a larger motor.
Note:
Keep in mind that the motor also has a short-term overload rating. Check
this carefully before drive settings.
• Change the run speed.
• Switch to a drive dedicated motor.
• Perform Auto-Tuning.
• Calculate motor data and reset motor parameters.
• Switch to A1-02 = 0 [Control Method Selection = V/f Control].
